Differences Between Traditional Tattooing and Semi-Permanent Makeup

The traditional method, or tattooing, has more disadvantages and side effects compared to modern techniques like micropigmentation and semi-permanent makeup (microblading). In this article, we aim to highlight and explain these differences.

Traditional Tattooing vs. Semi-Permanent Makeup (Microblading  and Micropigmentation)

The traditional tattooing method is an outdated and less safe technique for depositing pigment beneath the skin. It often involves the use of unregulated machines, non-sterile needles, and pigments made from non-standard materials in unsanitary environments. One of the major drawbacks of this method is the lack of control over the depth of pigment application, which can lead to inconsistent results.

Traditional tattooing can also cause side effects such as swelling, itching, allergic reactions, and in severe cases, serious health risks like the transmission of infectious diseases such as hepatitis and HIV. Additionally, removing tattoo pigment is extremely difficult and often unsuccessful.

In contrast, the micropigmentation or semi-permanent makeup method is based on medical-grade equipment, biocompatible pigments, single-use sterile cartridge needles, and precise depth control. These practices ensure minimal risk and offer much safer outcomes for clients.

In semi-permanent makeup techniques such as microblading, a sterile, single-use blade and hygienic pigments are used to create natural-looking, hair-like strokes in the desired area. This method offers a much more refined, safer, and controlled approach compared to traditional tattooing.
